My Favorites #3

ALC provided by Valentine PR

Author: Elizabeth O’Roark

Narrators: Kasi Hollowell. and James Cassidy

Thanks, Elizabeth for the ALC.

Dr. Easton Walsh thinks she finally made it: she left her no good family, got more degrees than most people her age (from Harvard medical school, no less) and is about to be proposed to by her famous, streaming tv show doctor boyfriend. That means she can go home for her best friend’s wedding with her head high.

Well, crap. Her proposal dinner becomes break up dinner and when she gets home, her friend ropes her into a road trip trip to fetch her 88-year-old grandmother from her house to New Orleans. To make things more horrible, she’ll be the ‘designated doctor’ while the designated driver is Elijah, the bride’s brother, who she adored from age seven and who broke her heart into a million pieces. She’ll do it… if he poses as for some IG photos to make her ex jealous.

But feelings run deep, meddling old ladies have their own agendas and she starts contemplating risking her heart once again.

If you love a good ‘it’s always been you’ story with a sassy, smart but broken heroine and a hero who will do anything for the people he loves, even if they have no clue he’s doing it, you will fall in love with this one. The road trip is hilarious, spicy and full of snark between Easton and Grandma Cabot!

The audiobook, narrated in duet, is joy to listen to. Kasi Hollowell and James Cassidy haven’t been in my ears enough! I need more of them! Kasi is phenomenal in her portrayal of the hard on the outside Easton who slowly strips down the false polished veneer she’s been giving herself to ‘fit in’. Plus, she rocks as all the other female voices. James gives us a smitten, protective Elijah and makes you despise the clueless and pompous Thomas.

If you love a good road trip, enemies to lovers, ‘boy obsessed’, one bed, small and grand gestures, rediscovering yourself, love languages, meddling old ladies, a hurricane wedding (literally!), not so fake romance, dive right in!

Content notes: mentions of alcoholism, child neglect and abandonment, criminal activities and incarceration, blackmail, secondary character diagnosed with MS (remission)
