Shadowmist Pack #2

Thank you, @eviemitchellauthor for the ARC.

When Lithia wakes up in a dark cell, she understands that she’s in a dire situation. She has been betrayed by someone she trusted, she let her pack down, she let her alpha’s mate die. But she’ll not break. She’ll escape and go back to the pack she sworn to protect.

Unexpectedly, she hears a voice. There is someone in the cell next to her – a nomad wolf that has survived their captors. Kier. He becomes her anchor, her source of comfort and hope.

Kier can’t believe there is actually someone in the other cell. He’s convinced he’s hallucinating her as it’s been known to happen. After all, three years of captivity, suffering all sorts of torture will do things to someone’s mind. But then she reaches her hand through a small opening in the wall and something springs to life in him: HOPE.

Together, they will try to escape this hell… and seek revenge.

I love this second installment in the Shadowmist Pack series! Lithia is a badass heroine who’s afraid of loving because everyone eventually leaves her one way or another. Kier is also (literally) a lone wolf, a nomad, who’s lost everyone near and dear to him.

I particularly liked that Evie took the time to develop a bond between them. We spend the first third of the book getting to know them in the same way they are getting to know each other. We eventually follow them back to the Shadowmist lands but the time we spent with them in captivity makes us root for them as a couple, even before we (and they) find out they’re mates.

A great shifter story, with a strong heroine, a hero worthy of her, touch her and die vibes, spice (slow burn but we get there…), knots (if you know you know) and a beautiful HEA.

I can’t wait for Levi’s (and his very unexpected heroine) story! And give me Dane too!
