Rosalie (Ro) Shariff and Matt ‘Freddy’ Fredderic met as freshmen but, even though they kiss at the party, Freddy ghosted Ro. She never forgot him and kept a major crush on the sweet hockey player. After all, he was her first kiss. And what a kiss. Fast forward a couple of years and Ro is now assigned as tutor to the hockey player who can’t seem to keep a 2.0 GPA. 

Freddy has dealt with dyslexia, dyscalculia and ADHD all his life. He’s learned to accept being the cute dumb jock. It all changes when Ro enters his life. Her dedication and care pretty soon start to show results. But Ro’s boyfriend was Freddy’s previous tutor and Freddy also shares a tumultuous and inappropriate past with Ro’s mentor…

Both are insecure, under appreciated and feel, well, unloved. But when they see each other, they surely see someone not only worthy of love but also easy to be loved. 

The audiobook is narrated dual style by Caitlin Elizabeth and Bradley Ford, both new to me and they did a fantastic job. These characters are hurt, vulnerable and in pain and they convey everything in their performances. 

I fell hard for ‘Matty’ and  Ro. You want to put both of them in your pocket and protect them at all costs. Ro is dealing with the worst gaslighting piece of crap boyfriend and Matty suffers in the hands of an abusing father and a very unethical teacher. You want the wrath of all gods to fall upon them.

I loved catching up with Rhys and Sadie as this story is told in parallel timelines to Unsteady. This way you get to see their relationship through the eyes of their friends.

(Note: Though I loved this story I must confess that it could have been 1/3 shorter…)
