Thanks, @kristenproby for the copies.
I’ve been a fan of all Kristen eras: witchy, big city, mafia… but when she takes me to Montana, my heart soars. I know she’ll hit me in the feels and make me swoon. Pretty Little Scars is no exception.
Tucker has eaten the crappy food at the diner for ages, just gearing up too getting the courage to ask ‘D’, the lovely waitress, out. Sadly, he takes too long and one day he finds out she quit and left. And he found himself with ‘the one who got away’. Fast forward five years and he’s getting a new vet-to-be who’s going to do her internship at his ranch. Surprise! it’s ‘D’, or rather, Darby, and guess what, she’s more connected to him than he ever knew.
With little moments here and there, he finally gets to know the skittish vet and soon they are building a beautiful story together.
The audiobook is an absolute delight! It’s narrated in duet with a talented multicast captained by Samantha Brentmoor and Sebastian Yok, who are, as expected, superb in their roles. Samantha’s performance as the determined Darby, whose past will break your heart, is perfection. Sebastian is swoony as the protective Tucker. Plus you get Stella Hunter, Savannah Thomas, Avery Caris, Jason Clarke, Christian Fox and Connor Crais to boot! It’s like she ticked tons of my boxes for favorite narrators!
What you get: a strong, resilient veterinarian-to-be, the greenest of green flags rancher, girl nights, Blackswells, Wilds, bear scares, family times, a heroine who won’t take crap from anyone anymore and a hero who’ll support and protect her and all the small town goodness that only Kristen can provide.
10/10. No notes. Give me all the Hendrixes!
Content notes (including but not limited to): FMC has a very traumatic past that is related to severe physical and psychological abuse. Attempted SA, bear scare. Mention of a potentially career ending sports injury.
