Lennon is a hustler. She’s been taking care of herself since she was 16. She’s a cam girl and she is, shall we say, an older gentleman’s ‘protegée’. He keeps her in an apartment in NYC, gives her gifts and helps her financially. So when he gets in trouble with the feds, she has to ‘disappear’. She doesn’t have anywhere to go, so she opts for Mercy River Ranch, a luxury spa that’s been sending her promotional material for a while. Why not? Get pampered in the middle of nowhere Wyoming and hide until the coast is clear.
When Lennon arrives at the ranch, Jeremiah is befuddled. She’s not ex-military, doesn’t seem to be a first responder, so what the hell is she doing there? He’s ex-special forces, so are his partners, so they are naturally suspicious of the ‘fish out of water’ Lennon. But that doesn’t prevent him from being completely attracted to the beautiful and sassy woman.
When weird things start happening, they find that Lennon is not the danger.. she IS in danger.
The audiobook is narrated in duet by Rose Dioro and Aiden Snow with the additional performance by Bridget Bordeaux. It’s not a secret that I’m die hard Rose fan and she’s phenomenal as always here. Aiden is perfectly cast with his booming voice as the ex-military man turned cowboy who has more than one secret in his past (one of them will have your flabbers gasted while the other hits you right in the prologue) . Bridget is a wonderful treat as ‘The Guardian” and other female voices.
What you get: mistaken and secret identities, soldiers turned into ranchers, a cam girl who is scrappy and no damsel in distress, a delusional stalker, mob shenanigans, morally gray situations and a sweet HEA under the Wyoming skies for the cowboy and the city girl. I can’t wait to see what happens to the rest of this crew!
Content notes (including but not limited to): MMC was raised (and shunned from) a cult. Stalking, kidnapping, violence, murder, criminal activities
