Thanks, @authorjuliawolf for the gifted audiobook.
Remington Town is back to Sugar Brush, Wyoming – a town he thought he had completely left behind. The father who basically abandoned him for the bottle when his mother died has passed away while he was overseas on assignment as a news photographer. He’s reluctant to stay in the house but the biggest surprise is finding out that there is another heir to place: Hannah Kelly, his best friend’s little sister.
Hannah is still mourning the death of her mentor and she gets the shock of her life when she finds a buck naked Remi in the middle of the place. And she’s PISSED. How could he abandon his father when he knew that he was sick and dying?
Slowly, all sorts of truths come out and they have to face them, especially Hannah.
Remi had a multitude of legitimate reasons to stay away and miss the funeral. Hannah has her reasons to be so defensive of the old man.
When danger comes for Hannah, they both realize that – a surprise to all, including him – Remi is there to stay. Forever. If she’ll have him.
The audiobook is narrated in duet by Emma Wilder and Sean Masters. Emma’s performance is key in helping us like Hannah because she seems to be an unlikeable heroine until you realize where she is coming from. Sean is swoony as the world traveling photographer who has to deal with his past so that he can have a future.
What you get: a broken man returning home (and finding out it still is indeed home), a feisty, hard-headed heroine who can’t catch a break, a brother’s best friend (and no drama about it), found family, a touch of suspense and danger, a cool nephew with a sharp mind, an insightful grandmother, emotional healing and a satisfying HEA.
Representation: ADHD (FMC is diagnosed later in life)
Content notes (including but not limited to): mentions of life threatening injuries sustained in a combat zone, alcoholism, loss of parent and spouse, child neglect, stalking, animals in danger
