Football and Feels #2

Thanks, @RBfictionaudio for the ALC via NetGalley.
Chelsea Parker, 19, Mathlete extraordinaire and football expert level genius, meets Luca Maguire , 19, linebacker, while she’s out of town in a Math tournament thingy. They hit it off so well that she almost hands out her V-card to the enemy. See, Luca is a Maguire and they are mortal enemies because his whole family of football players play for the ‘wrong team’.
Fast forward and Chelsea, now 26, is working as a nepobaby as her father’s PA for the Mastodons. He’s head coach there and she’s hoping to prove that she has everything to be the analytics expert for the team.
Enter Luca Maguire. He’s at training camp with the Mastodons and he knows that this is is Hail Mary and he has to lose his class clown/adrenaline junkie/defective Maguire fame or his careee is doomed. But guess what? The coach assigns him a baby sitter! And she’s none other that his ‘one that got away”- Chelsea The Mathlete. Who just pretended she doesn’t know him!
I love Lauren Rowe and Chelsea and Luca won my heart in this sportsball (can you tell I am not a fan of said sport? LOL) Romeo and Juliet! We even get a nod to the Laurenverse with a mention of Aloha Carmichael and it made me happy!
The audiobook is narrated in duets by the queen, Andi Arndt, and Corvin King (pun intended). Andi’s sweet, melodious voice suits the determined, funny and sassy Chelsea. Corvin cranks up the ‘bedroom voice’ and makes Luca sweet, swoony and adorable. Welcome to the Lauren world , Corvin! Great entrance! If you have been listening to Lauren’s books, you know Andi already rules supreme here.
What you get: a HatfieldsXMcCoys of sportsball. a determined, smart AF heroine, an also smart but sort of a loose canon hero, nepotism reputations to be shed, supporting families, Romeo and Juliet balcony reenactments, ‘if you love them set them free’ moments that backfire spectacularly, meaningful mementos, low angst, a believable third act conflict, grovel, sneaky steamy times, and an adorable HEA.
I love Lauren’s books and I can’t wait to see who’s going to get into football and feels next!
