The Miles High Club (Book 2)

Author: TL Swan
Kindle Edition, Kindle Unlimited

This is one of those books that are the utmost amazing surprise. I saw the first two books in the series in Kindle Unlimited. They were in the “read and listen” for free category and decided to give it a try. Boy, am I happy that I did!

This is the second book in the Miles High Club series and I definitely encourage you to read them all, but this is a standalone book that you can definitely enjoy without having read the first one.

We met Tristan in book 1 – he is the “fixer” brother, the one everyone runs to get things done. He is charge of acquisitions for the Miles Media empire.

Claire is a 38-year-old widow who is having a hard time raising her three boys and running Anderson Media, her husband’s legacy. She has already had to lay off half their employees and things are looking grim. Tristan shows up trying to buy out her company. She thinks he is an entitled, arrogant man and sends him packing. Much to her surprise, he asks her on a date a few days later. She refuses, of course.

Six months go by and her best friend and PA convince her to go to France on a business conference/seminar. And lo and behold, Tristan is the guest speaker on the first session. They have a second chance to a “meet cute” and they spend the weekend getting to know each other and setting the sheets on fire! The seminar is over and he invites her to spend the weekend with him in Paris…

All that is pretty standard romance tropes, but what makes this book AMAZING is how unbelievably funny and sweet it is. It’s very hard for me to laugh when I am reading and I found myself LOLing several times during this book. The banter between them is great, but things really get hilarious when he meets the hellions she has at home. The interaction between Tristan and the kids (and the cat and the dog) is just adorable and so so funny. And as the love grows between Claire and Tristan, it also grows between Tristan and the kids.

It has some really poignant moments. We can relate to Claire when she sees her late husband begin to “vanish” from their lives. We can also see the impact of his passing in the boys’ lives. And how Tristan beautifully doesn’t take his place, but makes a place for himself in their lives.

I strongly recommend this one!
