Ravenswood 3

Kindle Edition

Rae is the infamous though mysterious divorcée we met in BOOK 2. She walks around town with a behemoth of a dog, has scars on her face and she befriended the towns’ weirdos and pariahs. She becomes friends with Zach. We met Zach in book 1. He is a blacksmith, a doting son to his mom (who is battling a debilitating disease) and an amazing friend to everyone.

Rae is also a writer. She has just been nominated for an award for her debut novel and she has to attend the ceremony. There is a little annoying detail in this: her ex-husband, who had an affair with his assistant and married her, is going to be in attendance as he is a nominee for an award as well. Rae has reinvented herself in Ravenswood – she is this confident, I-don’t-give-a-fuck-what-you-think new woman and she doesn’t want to revert to her old self when she attends the event. Enter Zach. He’s going to play the handsome, younger, hot new boyfriend.

Ooooh, I love where this is going, don’t you?

I loved this last book in the series. If you read my reviews of the previous books, you will know that I do not think they should be read as standalones. They should be read in order to get the full effect of this group of characters.

I simply fell in love with Zach. Zach is a demisexual. (Never heard of it? Well, welcome to the club!) and when I started reading about how he feels about sex and intimacy a lightbulb went off in my head: Oh… I so get you, Zach. Talia Hibbert portrays Zach with such a delicate hand! He is just adorable and you feel for him, knowing that he forced himself to be something he was not, becoming the town’s manwhore because it was expected of him. I love that he came to feel comfortable with the way he is.

I also found it refreshing that the age gap in the couple was not a problem. It just was.

The romance is great. I absolutely loved how they finally got together and it was a delightful end to the series.

Possible triggers: emotional abuse by a parent, mentions of unwanted sexual encounters (not forced), heroine has POTS, heroine has scarred face
