Marty and Peggy Chance are about to hit their 50th wedding anniversary and they would like nothing better than to celebrate with the help with their three children, Ford, Cooper and Palmer. However, not everything is working as they would like between their kids. They have been estranged, to say the least, so their parents believe that having them organize the shindig is the best way to make them reconnect.  In the midst of bickering and arguing and an incessant string of emails they manage to drive each other insane. Will the Chances ever be a family again?

Let me start by saying that I listened to the prequel novella (The One Night) and it lead me to believe that this was going to focus on Cooper and Nora’s story. Believe me, the way they came together was enough for one whole book! However, The Reunion is told through 6 different POVs and it focuses more on the relationships amongst the siblings than in their romances. It’s not a bad thing at all – just not what the novella proposed. I deeply missed the fun and meddling “wingmen” parents from the other story as the older Chance couple doesn’t look much like them in this. I did enjoy following the siblings (though Palmer is extremely irritating!!) and there is still romance in it for everyone… It was just not what I was expecting.

Narration: This one short-circuited my brain big time! Why? Well, Cooper is voiced by Teddy Hamilton in the novella and he gets a different narrator now, giving him a completely different vibe from the Cooper I already knew. To make it all weirder, Teddy Hamilton voices Dr. Beau here and my brain kept telling me that there was something really wrong. My sharp ears also spotted another narrator using an alias. (I always like to play narrator detective lol). And, I also don’t see the point of having 6 different narrators and not have it duet style. They all read their POV chapters making all the other voices and it hurt my brain a little too. aI understand Meghan Quinn wanted to go for something different and it is fun. If there hadn’t been the novella, I would have liked it more. Maybe I just needed a heads up…

Note: very low on the heat level

Possible Triggers: conflict amongst siblings, feelings of insecurity re being adopted
