Bellinger Sisters #2

e-book, Kindle

Author: Tessa Bailey

Fox Thornton, king crab fisherman, is Wesport’s resident “good time guy”, the carefree flirt, the “sure thing” – a reputation he’s been willing to maintain. Everything changes when he meets Hannah Bellinger when she first comes to town with her sister Piper. She’s immune to his hunky-ness and his charms, calls him “peacock”, and, lo and behold, wants to be his friends. With NO benefits. That’s a new one…

After 7 months of texting every day as platonic friends, Hannah is back in town as the film she works on as a production assistant is on location there. With no place to stay at her sister’s, she ends up crashing with Fox. Since they’re friends, and he’s an expert in the charm department, she enlists his help make herself more attractive to her crush, the director of the film. Yet, as she spends more time with Fox, she realizes that it’s actually him she wants be with, but does she want to be a notch amongst the numerous ones on his bedpost?  As for Fox, living with his best friend should be a piece of cake, until her scent is everywhere, she’s sleeping in the other room or parading around wrapped in a towel. He’s hooked… But will he ever be the man his Hannah deserves?

Finally!!! I was afraid this was going to be the third strike for me with this author. I really didn’t care for the other sister, or the Christmas book, but I took chance … and I loved it! I love how they started their relationship via text without even noticing! We get to know more about them and their vulnerabilities through these exchanges and when they get together in person, you can’t not root for them. They are so beautifully supportive of each other and it’s so sweet! I loved Hannah in the first book (it was its saving grace for me) and Fox is just the character you want to hug and make him see how wonderful he truly is. I liked how the author made this “God’s gift to women” have self-esteem problems – he was so vulnerable and insecure about his self worth – and have Hannah see through his walls and love him for who he really was.

It’s a slow burn, but when it ignites, they set the house on fire!

If you are an epilogue fan like myself, this one has one set ten years in the future and it’s just so so adorable! Loved it!

Possible Triggers: deep insecurities regarding self-worth, toxic masculinity
