I wasn’t sure how to give you a summary of this book because I soon as I said the MMC is an escapee from a cult and the FMC is recovering from being kidnapped in South America you would think I couldn’t be serious. But I am! And it takes a talented writer like Sarina Bowen to make it work… beautifully!
Lark seeks refuge at her best friend’s family farm to “relax” after her ordeal. She tries to convince everyone she’s “fine” but the night terrors happen… and the beautiful and quiet Zach (who shares the bunkhouse with her and the other guys) is the one who always wakes up and holds her until it all passes.
Zach is a peculiar young man. Having escaped (or rather being shunned) from the cult he grew up in, he’s living in a world of “firsts”. He gets a little flack from the guys, especially for his sexual inexperience, but he always takes it in stride. He loves those people who opened their homes and their hearts to him.
Little by little, Lark and Zach give in to the attraction between them and soon their nights together are for more than just spooning for safety and comfort. But Lark needs to deal with her PTSD first or they’ll never have a chance…
Though book #3 in the True North series, it can definitely be read as a standalone.
