Redemption Hills #1

Audible audiobook

Author: A. L. Jackson

Narrators: Connor Crais and Desirée Ketchum

Trent Lawson is a dark, arrogant, scary man. He moved out of LA and opened Absolution, a fancied “dive bar” in Redemption Hills in order to raise his five-year old son away from his past as the VP of a violent MC. He’s done unspeakable things in the past, but now all he wants to do is give little Gage a safe and happy life.

Eden Murphy is as light as Trent is dark. A kindergarten, teacher she shows up at his bar looking for a job as she’s in desperate need for extra cash. The monster in Trent is salivating for the innocent looking girl, but she’s not far behind, reluctantly wanting to play with fire. And Life loves to play with people because she soon finds out that little Gage, a student she adores, is Trent’s son. With a complication after another being thrown at them, with Trent’s past insisting in coming back to screw up his life, they soon find out that, no matter what, they belong together.

I want to start by saying that I love Amy’s writing style. I love how she puts you right into the characters’ souls. Some people call it flourished, I call it poetic.

This story is dark but so beautiful. Trent is.. ack, I have no words! Thrown into a violent life he never wanted, all he desires now is atonement, even if he truly believes he deserves no forgiveness. He’ll do ANYTHING for his family, though, even if it means unleashing the monster he believes lives within him. Eden. in the same fashion, will sacrifice anything for her own family and pretty soon Trent and Gage belong to her in her heart.

The story goes back and forth in time and we see flashbacks of Trent’s horrible past and that’s how we learn why he thinks he’s so undeserving of anything good.

There’ s so much love in this books: a father’s love, a brother’s love, a daughter and sister’s love, a man’s love for a woman with “autumn eyes”.

Loved it and can’t wait to read the next installments in the series.

Narration:

This one has my boy Connor playing two things he does really well: a bad boy and tortured soul. A thousand stars. Desirée Ketchum is a favorite of mine and she’s kicking ass in this one, especially as little Gage… “Ms Moofy” is everything!

Possible triggers: violent acts on page; grief. death of a parent; death of a sibling; parental emotional and physical abuse
