Tattered and Torn #4
Audible audiobook
Author: Catherine Cowles
Narrators: Ava Erickson and Sebastian York
Laiken was in a car accident in high school that killed the love of her life and left her with painful injuries. Now, a decade later, she’s living in Wolf Gap, managing an art gallery and living with her broken heart and body.
Boden Cavanaugh is a movie star who’s had his share of pain. He’s come to Wolf Gap to research for a movie and to hide from the media still hounding him after the death of girlfriend. When Boden visits the gallery and is mesmerized by a photo exhibited there, he meets Laiken. To his surprise, she’s the subject of the photo and that draws him to her even more. But Laike’s pretty much tied up to her past – as no one seems to want to let her move on and let go of it. When people related to Laiken’s accident start showing up dead, Boden steps up to protect her.
I real loved this one! I love how Laiken doesn’t let the constant pain she’s in dictate her life. Boden is so adorable and even though he’s a world famous movie star, the fame trope doesn’t really play a part in their relationship. He’s down to earth, attentive and caring, while respecting Laiken’s boundaries.
I also love that all the angst and conflict is outside of the romance, which is refreshing.
Y’all also know how easy it is for me to “sleuth my way” when it comes to mysteries and I was yet again truly surprised when I found out who the culprit was! Brownie points, Catherine!
Narration: Another homerun for SebYo and Ava Erickson.
