Kings of Sin #1
e-ARC provided by Valentine PR, Kindle e-book
Author: Ana Huang
Dante Russo likes to control everything: his business, his personal life…even his food has to be placed on his plate in a certain way.
Vivian Lau, on the other hand, has known all her life that she won’t have much control over her future. She will wed whoever her parents choose and she’s determined to make the most of it.
When Dante is, unbeknownst to Vivian, blackmailed into marrying her, he’s downright furious. No one messes with him, but the stakes are too high and he’ll pretend to accept the situation until he can obliterate his enemy. What was not on his plans was to fall hard, deeply, truly and completely for Vivian…
Here we are at the beginning of a new series and I’m already giddy for the next book! I devoured this and I was deeply invested in all that was happening with Vivian and Dante.
I truly believed the dark, deep hatred coming from Dante and I loved how Vivian (who’s very submissive to her parents) didn’t bow down to him. He can’t figure out who exactly this beautiful creature is and how she’s bringing him down to his knees.
Like Ana’s previous heroes, Dante has a touch of darkness, is powerful and pretty much behaves like a king, so it’s a joy to see him come apart.
I loved how Ana touched on how difficult intercultural relationships can be and how she resolved the conflicts between Vivian and her family.
The infamous 3rd act conflict has me worried because I just couldn’t figure out how Dante and Vivian would work things out in the end. And, oh boy, no one grovels in style like a billionaire!
I loved their romance, they set the world on fire when together. Dante is swoony and Vivian is one of my favorite of Huang’s heroines so far. I can’t wait for King of Pride!
Rep and possible triggers: interracial/intercultural romance. FMC is of Chinese descent. Blackmail, mild violence, toxic relationship with parents, death of a family member (mention), parental neglect, disownment
