Delilah Green is back in the small town of Bright Falls to photograph her stepsister’s wedding. The thing is – there is nothing but bad memories of a lonely childhood tied to this place. Her life is in NYC, her career in photography is taking off and she has a different woman in her bed more often than not. So why go back? Her step sister’s guilted her into it and there’s a five-figure check waiting for her. The plan is to basically hit and run, but when Claire Sutherland, one of her sister’s stuck-up friends, hits on her at the bar, she thinks she might end up having some fun (and some retribution) after all.

Claire can’t deal with surprises. She’s already had her share with an unexpected pregnancy and an ex as unreliable as they come. She doesn’t need a wild card in her life and that’s what Delilah is.  Delilah is a very unwelcome surprise.. until she isn’t.

What a lovely book! Such a heartfelt romance between two people who deserve all the love in the world. My heart broke for the badass-on-the-outside Delilah and Claire is just the perfect partner for her.

This is a “light” read but it hits you in all the feels: Delilah’s abandonment issues, Claire’s complex relationship with Josh, Astrid’s toxic relationship with her mother (and fiancé), it all tugs at your heartstrings. I loved how Delilah finally realizes that she does indeed care and how she and her sister get a long due reconciliation.

I very much enjoyed Delilah and Claire’s story and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Astrid!

Rep and possible triggers: FMCs are gay and bisexual. Queer romance. Toxic relationship with a parent/mother figure, mentions of death of parents, cancer
