Bellamy Creek series #4

Audible audiobook

Author: Melanie Harlow

Narrators: Amanda Ronconi and Connor Crais

Beckett Weaver is a hot cowboy who left his high paying job on Wall Street to take care of the family ranch and his ailing father. When he goes to Bellamy Creek, he has no idea that his past will suddenly become present. His childhood friend (and forever crush) Maddie is coming back to town to renovate and sell her late mom’s old place. However, the place is uninhabitable and Beckett offers Maddie (and her adorable son Elliott) a place to stay at the ranch.

Maddie and Beckett have always been friends. There was one hot, unexpected kiss in the past, but they never spoke about it… but Maddie has always had feelings for him. Now, together at the ranch, and seeing how devoted he is to his father and how sweet and caring he is towards her kid, Maddie can’t resist the attraction anymore.

A sweet, sexy second chance romance where they’re both pining for each other, this is a lovely ending to the Bellamy Creek series.

I loved how caring and Beckett is devoted to everyone, mostly his dad. It can be hard to read if you have a loved one with memory issues, though.

I love a pining hero but I really didn’t understand Beckett’s reasoning for not wanting to commit. Literally everyone knew he’s wanted Maddie and no one else for his whole life and when he finally gets her, he sends her away. WTH?

I particularly loved how little Elliot’s story is dealt in this book: he wears dresses, loves unicorns, favors the color pink and likes to braid hair and the people who love him accept him completely and it’s so nice to see.

A great ending for the series.

Narration: Connor Crais as a pining hero – be still my heart! It’s my first time listening to Amanda Ronconi and I enjoyed her Maddie.

Rep and possible triggers: LGBTQIA+ rep. Dealing with the aftermath of divorce, caring for a parent with Alzheimer’s
