Feyi has been, for the past five years, dealing with the loss of the love of her life in a tragic car accident. Now, she feels it’s time to start living again: she’s sharing her brownstone with her best friend, she has her own studio and her career is taking off. She’s definitely not ready for anything serious, but a steamy chance encounter on a rooftop is the starting point of a chain of events that will change her life forever. That includes a trip to a tropical island to stay at the luxurious estate of a millionaire chef to whom she’s immediately drawn to. The only problem? He’s her “boyfriend’s” father…

This book is not your typical romance but I’ll fight anyone who says it’s not a romance. It does read like literary fiction, but mostly because the author follows no “rules” or “formulas” expected in a romance novel to the letter.

It took me a while to get into the story but then I was fully committed to seeing what would come of this meeting of souls.

Rep and possible triggers: queer romance (both MCs are openly bisexual), black love. Grief is a MAJOR subject in this book.

Props for using a Florence and The Machine verse as the title.
