Audible audiobook

Author: K. Bromberg

Narrators: Savannah Peachwood and Jason Clarke

When a 5-year-old letter from a military vet drops on Chase Kincade’s desk, thanking them for their interesting but declining the offer for representation as he “no longer can pursue his dreams of being a baseball player”, she’s very intrigued. Finding him out and signing him now would be amazing press for KSM. So, she packs up and goes to Destiny Falls, where he apparently is living. When she gets there, she heads to local bar for a drink: the best place to get any intel in any small town. The bar is packed with veterans, including the gorgeous bartender, so she lies about who she is because she just knows they’ll be protective of  one of their own.

When Gunner Camden sees Chase, he’s immediately smitten: she’s beautiful, funny, confident and she reminds him that there is a life to be lived. So he pursues her. And they click. But there is one thing Gunner can’t accept – dishonesty – and their whole relationship has been based on a lie.

I devoured this one! It’s the weirdest “sports romance”, as sports are not at all in the center of this and I loved it! I was into Gunner’s story and I wanted only good things for him.    We keep on the edge of our seats because we know things that they don’t know and we don’t want them to get hurt, but it’s inevitable.

I was very annoyed at Chase because she had a billion opportunities to come clean and I was “Girl, c’mon! Tell him!!!” but, of course, it all works out in the end.

Loved this story – the last of the sisters’ stories. Let’s see how KB will make me change my mind about Finn, whom I have hated since book 1!

Narration: Savannah Peachwood as Chase and Gunner has the dreamy voice of Jason Clarke.

Possible triggers: mentions of death of parent, domestic abuse, PTSD, mentions of deaths in military missions
