Drowning in Stars #2

Audible audiobook

Author: Debra Anastasia

Narrators: Rose Dioro and Benjamin Charles

Ruffian has lived an unconventional life. He and his mother have lived on the streets, in the woods, free of restraints of conformity. When his mother passes away, he wants to do something epic to honor her memory. To achieve that, he needs a cover. So, he decides to reach out to his “family” and ends up finding out his half-brother Gaze. Gaze and his adopted family take him in with open arms. They’ll be the perfect cover for his intentions: rob a bank and save his community in the woods. A small wrench is thrown in his plan: Teddi Burathon, his brother’s adopted sister. She’s everything he’s not. His heart was dead, or so he thought – until she makes it beat again.

Although this is definitely a standalone, you’ll enjoy it much more if you read the previous book in the series because Gaze, Pixie and the Burathons are a major part of this story.

I loved Teddi from book 1. She’s a tiny hurricane for goodness and she’s just what the universe had to put in Ruffian’s path. Their story is angsty, but more so in the sense that you spend the whole time praying that Ruffian will not go on with his plan.

I’m not getting into more details so as to not spoil anything, but I was thrilled to see Nix, Animal and Lock show up in this story! IYKYK! I loved how everything came together in the end! Go Teddi!

Narration: Rose Dioro and Benjamin Charles kicking ass as expected! All the stars!

Possible triggers: death of a parent, cancer, children with terminal diseases, criminal activities, incarceration, living in foster care, mental health issues (implied)
