Heartsong Duet #1

KU e-book

Author: Jennifer Hartmann

Lucy Hope is sunshine personified. She chooses to be like that. Her life is not unicorns and rainbows, but she won’t let the dark side of it bring her down. That’s why she impulse-bought the house where her childhood best friend used to live, where she spent so many wonderful days before everything went dark when her friend died.

She’s back in town and she finds out that so is he: Cal, her best friend’s brother. He rebought the family auto-shop and is now a big, burly, grumpy, tattooed mechanic. She’ll do anything to bring some of her sunshine to his forever dark days…

The first book in the Heartsong duet is told almost exclusively throughLucy’s POV and we learn that very dark things happened in the past. You can’t not fall in love with Lucy, although sometimes she seems very naïve for a 23-year-old, especially when it comes to her medical condition.

Cal is the quintessential grumpy tortured soul that Jennifer Hartmann writes so perfectly.

I can’t wait to see what happens in book 2, when we get to see Cal’s POV.

I’m also very intrigued by what happened to Emma, as Jennifer is the queen of twists and turns! I expect surprises!

Possible triggers: death of a sibling, living with a serious illness
