Dark Olympus #4

e-book, Libby

Author: Katee Robert

Cassandra Gataki wants to leave Olympus for good. She’s a disgraced member of a fallen house, paying for the sins of her deceased parents. She’s been working as Apollo’s personal assistant for the past five years in the hopes to save enough money to get herself and her sister Alexandra away from the treacherous Thirteen. When Apollo asks her to go “undercover” as his date on a week-long party thrown by Minos, she reluctantly agrees. She will help him and Zeus will pay her and make sure she and Alexandra can flee Olympus safely.

Apollo is Olympus spymaster and Cassandra is his right hand. He trusts her completely and he knows that she’ll have his back. But fake dating someone you have been pining for for years can prove distracting,,, and danger lurks everywhere in the Upper City.

This was fun! There was a lot of twists and turns and crazy politics of the Upper City as expected. I just wished we had more of Cassandra and Apollo. They’re delightful together and I love how they truly care for each other. Apollo is top tier boyfriend material! There’s so much stuff going on at times that the romance is set in the back burner. The story had an old school Agatha Christie vibe of “rich people stuck together in a party and horrible things happen”, which is a good thing, but as a romance reader, I wanted more of the swoony times of the couple together as Apollo worships Cassandra!

At this point, Dark Olympus is pretty much a series, so if you plan on picking this one up, I strongly suggest reading the previous ones in order.

Rep and possible triggers: in Olympus, everyone is queer; Cassandra is plus size. Death of parents (historical), violence, murder on page
