The Miles High Club #5

Kindle e-book

Author: T. L. Swan

Hmm, here I go again with one of those reviews… This was highly anticipated for me because everyone knows The Takeover is one of my all-time favorite books. And I’m an epilogue wh0re, so that would be right up my alley. Eh… it was ok. Let me break it down:

  • Jameson and Emily – Jameson is still that arrogant @$$hole from The Stopover. He’s been stressed beyond belief, so Emily books them a couple of weeks in a wellness retreat, It does make up for funny moments, but as a meditator myself I got a bit of a sour taste in my mouth. Was I being made fun of? It was still funny to see him out of his element.
  • Tristan and Claire – any chance to revisit these two will always be fine by me. It was funny (though a little bit slapstick-y) but I adore these two and their crazy family.
  • Elliot and Kate – big trigger warning for endometriosis and infertility. Surprisingly, it was almost my favorite part of the book. Their struggles to become pregnant and the complete love and devotion Elliot has for Kate gave me all the feels. It also had an unexpected turn that brought me to tears and redeemed a character for me.
  • Christopher and Hayden – oh well, The Do Over was a monumental disappointment for me because of Christopher’s entitled millennial shenanigans. Well, nothing really changed. I never got invested in his romance with Hayden, and though he kind of makes up for being an @$$ by actually acknowledging her wants and feelings, I still couldn’t be bothered. Now, Eddie is the MVP here and the one I was happy to see thrive. Also, this epilogue has soooo many time jumps and it’s still kinda meh.
  • Finally my biggest pet peeve: the Britishisms that these “Americans” use all the time – “nappies”, “biscuits” and, the cherry on top, “removalists” instead of “movers”. WTH?!

All in all, I will aways love revisiting the Mileses. Claire and Tristan? OTP!

4 stars just for Tristan and Elliot’s epilogues.
