The Edens Book #3

Audible audiobook

Author: Devney Perry

Narrators: Cindy Kay and Connor Crais

Talia Eden has come back to Quincy after medical school. That’s her calling – to be a good doctor. If only people would respect her as such… Kinda hard when you are working with the doctor who delivered you and everyone’s known you all her life. She’s been trying to find her place, to be a good doctor, a devoted aunt, when the past comes back to haunt her.

Foster Madden is the middle-weight champion of the world, world famous MMA fighter and the man she loved dearly for 438 days…  until he went and married her best friend. She lost two people that day and now Foster is in Quincy, where he bought a gym to train for a fight. He’s divorced, and guess what, he wants Talia back. Say what?

I love how Devney Perry switches the tone from one book to the other. This is a second chance romance, sports related, with a little bit if “suspense-y” things added to it. Unfortunately, though, it wasn’t the home run I was expecting because I couldn’t get fully invested in their romance. I think the reason for that is that we didn’t see them fall in love, not even in flashbacks. Also, I needed way more groveling. Foster had his reasons for betraying her, but I wanted him to work harder for her forgiveness. I was weirdly more miffed by the fact that her best friend betrayed her like that. That girl also had to work way more than she did for her “atonement”.

All in all it was a good installment in the series.

Narration: Y’all know I squealed when I saw Connor Crais stamped on the cover and he does a perfect Foster (duh). Cindy Kay gives us the sort of closed off, a little broken Talia. Lovely narration! Don’t miss the bonus epilogue!!

PT: betrayal, blackmail, toxic relationship with a father (figure), toxicwork environment
