An apartment that’s “a pinch in time”, an overworked book publicist, a lovely aspiring chef with a Southern drawl, a touch of magic = a perfect book.

Clementine has just moved into her late aunt’s apartment in the Upper East Side. An apartment her aunt had always told her was “magical”. It’s been hard living there when her aunt is not there to be her “adventures companion”, her best friend. She’s always believed in the stories but she’s truly shocked when she sees a man cooking in her kitchen – a man who’s living seven years in the past. Now Clementine is living in both timelines. The present, where an imminent promotion is making her even more overworked and the past, where peanut butter and jelly sandwiches can be “the perfect meal” with a mean she knows is stealing her heart. Will she meet him in the present? Will their timelines cross? Will they like each other then? Or are they to only see each other when the magic of the apartment allows them to?

Ashley Poston has the magic touch (pardon the pun). She writes books with a touch of whimsy and magic and sucks you into a story that makes those magical elements totally believable.

This is a truly romantic book, with twists and turns you’d expect from people living seven years apart. It’s also a book about grief, about losing “your person” – that person that always made your life bigger, better and brighter.

I couldn’t put this one down. I was totally engrossed in the story and I was cheering for them to “catch up”. I loved how everything clicked together beautifully. Lovely book!

Narration: Brilliant solo narration by Brittany Presley, who’s new to me but I’ll definitely listen to her more!

Possible triggers: death of loved ones (historical), mentions of suicide and dealing with its aftermath
