Chestnut Springs #5

Audible Audiobook

Author: Elsie Silver

Narrators: Angelica Rocca and Jason Clarke

I started listening to this audiobook the minute it dropped in my Audible library but by the time I am writing this review, Beau and Bailey have taken Elsie Silver to the very deserved #1 spot in the bestsellers list.

Beau Eaton, the prince of Chestnut Springs, is numb. His return as a wounded hero made him even more of an untouchable golden boy. Bailey is an “untouchable” in the very opposite way. She’s from the other side of the tracks. The only Jansen girl in the town’s notorious family of screw-ups. He’s 35. She’s 22. He’s seen the world. She’s never left. She’s a virgin. He’s the prince. She’s “trash”. But when they meet at the bar where she bartends (the only job she managed to get in this town that sees her as a pariah), he starts to feel again. So, he proposes a “bet”: he’ll give her his name, as his fake fiancee, so that she can get a shot of getting a job.

This audiobook is perfection. Bailey is young but determined. Beau is tortured but protective. He may be broken but Bailey is the glue that can put him back together. He sees Bailey for the amazing person that she is.

Narration here was a phenomenal home run. Angelina Rocca IS Bailey, She brings Bailey’s youth, sass and word-vomiting with her most inappropriate questions. Her soothing voice and her stellar performance made listening a joy. Jason’s Beau is perfection. One “Who. Did. This?” In his signature gruff, growly voice and you’ll need to be scraped off the floor. A thousand stars for both!

A beautiful story of broken people, of being there for each other, of swims in the lake at 2:11am, of caring, and of healing. Perfect.

I’ll miss Chestnut Springs like it’s a real place.
