The Boudreaux Family #5

Audible Audiobook

Author: Kristen Proby

Narrators: Rachel Fulginiti and Zachary Webber

Beau Boudreaux is the oldest of the siblings and he feels he needs to take over the role of his late father as the Protector of the family. Now that his baby sister is married, he moves into the company loft in the heart of the French Quarter. The loft is on top of a lovely shop in which the owner sells lotions, creams and potions. She annoys him with the ruckus and the smells coming upstairs from her shop, but she’s the most beautiful woman he’s ever laid eyes on.

Mallory Adams is finally embracing who she is without caring if people find her magical gifts “odd”. She can’t help it if she can feel things, know what’s on people’s minds, or sense things in a different way. Everything is going well (the exception being her upstairs neighbor / brother of her new friends) who seems to think the noise he hears comes from her and not the ghost that haunts her shop. When a pipe bursts in the middle of the night, she gets to experience “protector Beau”. Not only that, he’s the only person she can touch and not “read”, which brings her an incredible feeling of calmness.

As for Beau, touching Mallory is like being touched by lightning, but will practical, no-nonsense Beau believe she possesses all these magical gifts? Or will he let them drive him away from her?

My absolute favorite in the series! I loved the “witchy” elements and how they are incorporated in the story. I also loved seeing Beau through his eyes, His chemistry with Mallory is truly magical.

Narration: Narrated by Rachel Fulginiti and Zachary Webber, dual style. I wish they had Zachary Webber unleash his charming souther accent for Beau, though.

Possible triggers? mentions of grief, feelings of inadequacy, bullying. Mentions of violent crimes.
