Sparrow Falls #1

ARC and ALC provided by author.

Author: Catherine Cowles

Narrators: Andi Arndt and Zachary Webber

Rhodes’s world changed twice: first when her family relocated to the small town of Sparrow Falls from NYC and then when she lost of them in a fire when she was 13.  She was fortunate enough to be welcomed into her best friend’s family that is a loving hodge podge of foster kids and a weed smoking grandma.

Anson used to be a hotshot FBI profiler and then the unimaginable happened. He seeks refuge in Sparrow Falls, working for his college best friend’s renovation company. Nobody knows who he is. He doesn’t “people”. This friend happens to be Rhodes’s brother and they will renovate her family home, where she intends to live.

They should stay away from each other but when Rho’s world comes crashing down again, Anson’s protective instincts kick in. And it only takes one moment of “weakness” to have them engulfed in flames, metaphorical and literal.

Catherine is a master of the romantic suspense, mixing them both in equal measure and this one is WOW good. It got me from the first paragraph with the suspense and it gave me all the feels with the romance! I also loved all the new characters in the series. The found family feeling with the Colsons is heartwarming and funny.  A grandma with a penchant for “edibles” and risqué art that is for sure unforgettable!

The audiobook is narrated by my dream team: Andi Arndt and Zachary Webber. These two giants have you feeling all the emotions in this gripping story. Andi captures Rhodes’s spirit beautifully and Zach can do tortured soul in a way that will break your heart.

It’s perfect for anyone who loves a good small town romantic suspense. You’ll get the wacky family, the cute dog, the broody hero, “touch her and die” vibes and a culprit that surprised the heck out of me (and that’s hard to do!). Loved it! A million stars!

Catherine, I truly enjoyed listening to this early.
