Kings of Sin #4

Audible audiobook

Author: Ana Huang

Narrators: Elena Wolfe and Gregory Salinas

We’re back with the Sins and we all squealed when we figured out it was going to be Sloane and Xavier’s book.

Sloan is the super driven, no nonsense publicist who’s used to getting her clients out of the proverbial holes they dig up for themselves. It’s no different with one of her top clients,  Xavier Castillo. She has her hands full with the slacker nepobaby whose only purpose in life is to party. When his father falls ill and it’s expected of Xavier to reconnect with him in Colombia and take over his role as the heir to the Castillo empire, Sloane is there to navigate the feeding frenzy that will ensue. Xavier has no intention of assuming any role in father’s worldwide business, but there is a very interesting stipulation in the will… and surprisingly, Sloane will have a really important role in his destiny. In more ways than one…

Narrated duet style by Elena Wolfe as the no nonsense Sloane and Gregory Salinas as the golden retriever slacker Xavier, the audiobook is a joy to listen to. Their voices are perfectly cast and they are amazing in this duet. Both of them show a wide range of emotions and they don’t disappoint.

I’m going to confess that, although it’s still a five-star read for me, I was, I don’t know, expecting… more? Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great book but it felt like an excellent episode of a series. Maybe it has to do with the enormous amount of cameos from the Twisted series and the previous books. As an avid Ana reader it made me really happy to see all of these beloved characters, I assure you, but it felt more like a “series” installment and I definitely recommend reading the other ones first. There is also one loose end of a mystery fire that is probably going to be solved later on but it is still bugging me.

All in all it was an amazing experience as it always is with Ana’s books.

Plus: Xavier turned out to be really swoony…
