I love a good second chance romance and when you add (Canadian) cowboys, a couple with a lot of history, and mix it with Dallas/Dynasty/Yellowstone vibes, you’re in for a treat. Zee and Colt have a troubled shared past and when they are thrown into an arranged marriage to save both of their ranches, sparks fly. Of all sorts. Zee fled Pigeon Creek never to come back and she never thought she would marry her enemy. The boy who didn’t trust her. The McAllisters and the Korhonens have been feuding for decades, and when the matriarch and patriarch come up with this “mingling” of their families, they had no idea that Zee and Colt share a past of forbidden friendship and heartbreak. Thrown together into a fake/forced marriage, unresolved feelings resurface. Zee is not the defenseless teen anymore and Colt has grown into the loyal, protective and competent rancher he was meant to be. Amongst blackmail, death threats, murders and all sorts of family shenanigans, they find their way to each other.

Narrated in dual style by the phenomenally talented Stella Hunter and Connor Crais, a pairing I’ve come to love, this is a tour de force for both as they have to voice a great number of  characters from different POVs. Stella gives us a feisty, lively Zee in the present and a vulnerable, broken Zee in the past. Connor chanels all the old-school Hollywood cowboys and you find yourself swooning with Colt cocking a rifle (that was a definitely a first for me! LOL)  The chemistry between the characters is undeniable and it’s all there in their performances. All the cowboy hats off for these two! Amazing!

Thanks Must Love Audio, East House Productions and the author for allowing me to listen to this early.

Rep: Zee has type 1 diabetes
