The Brewer Family Series

Adriana Locke has a knack for writing families that you just want to belong to. The Brewers are no exception, even though they have a “patriarch” straight out of hell. But the “kids”, ah the kids… This time she gives us Ripley.

Ripley is what his asshole father would call “the runt of the litter”. His father couldn’t be more wrong – he may not be what his father wanted him to be, but he is a competent and respected exercise physiologist, loyal to a fault and an overall good guy. Well, except to Georgia Hayes. They’ve been enemies since high school, to the point that their mutual friends are always afraid of when they’ll be together in the same place.

Things get really complicated when Sutton, Georgia’s best friend, asks her to take part in a reality TV pilot she’s producing. She’ll have to fake date a guy picked according to their “common search history”. Sutton is in a pickle because they lost the couple who had already been picked and Sutton really needs this to go well. Georgia says yes, but unbeknownst to Sutton, the replacement guy they picked is … yep, you got it – Ripley.

They are forced together in a series of fake dates in which they are incapable of not showing their true selves, and one freak storm and one cabin, makes all the truths come out. And they are quite shocked…

Narrated dual style by Lexi Maynard and Jason Clarke. It’s my first time listening to Lexi and she didn’t disappoint as the sassy, quick-witted Georgia. Jason’s voice fits Ripley to a T – he can give you cocky, arrogant Ripley and melt your heart with vulnerable, total green flag, dog daddy, Uncle Ripley. The chemistry is off the charts in this one.

This installment in the Brewer family series is great. It’s true enemies to lovers with the best “it’s always been you” touch. You’ll love their banter, the adorable puppy, their dates, and how the conflict is resolved with swoony gestures.

I love Adriana Locke and I can’t wait for more!
Thanks, Adriana, for letting me watch Lexi and Ripley fall out of hate early! It was a blast!
