In this holiday romance, we see two exes (who haven’t seen each other in five years), having to spend Christmas in the same house.
Charlotte Donovan truly believes in the “December Curse”, in which anything that can go wrong will – including being left at the altar by her childhood best friend and love of her life, Brighton, five years ago. The curse is alive and well when her friend Sloan decides to take their whole string quartet back home with her to Colorado for the holidays. Unbeknownst to her, her sister Adele is also taking her best friend, Brighton, to spend Christmas with them.
At first, Charlotte pretends she doesn’t know Brighton, but the whole group is roped into a series of “dating events”and all the unresolved feelings between them come to play.
I really enjoyed this one. Though, at some points I questioned if these two should ever get back together, the author slowly shows us why Brighton left Charlotte at the altar and also why they were destined to be together from the age of twelve. I am not sure if I myself would ever be able to forgive Brighton if in the same situation but I guess Ashley manages to convince me that Charlotte had a little bit to blame too. I like that there are no villains here and we get to see both sides of the story.
I loved all the secondary characters (I want to be best friends with Manish and Adele!) and they bring a lot to the story.
All in all, it was an interesting Christmas story with some fun characters.
