Daisy has been staying with her twin brother, who has just found love and is in a honeymoon stage with his beloved. She knows she’s welcome there, but it’s been kinda hard being a third wheel – and having to listen to the telltale sounds coming from their bedroom. She needs a place to stay but Cherry Peak is small and it’s hard to find housing. So Johnny calls in a favor with their tight knit group of friends: a roommate who can house Daisy until she finds a place.

When no one is able to help, Bryce gets volunteered as tribute. She has the room, so how hard can it be?

Well, very very hard, apparently. You see, Bryce has been pining for Daisy for years and having that ray of sunshine living with her will be pure torture, but she can’t say no.

I loved Bryce (Frosty)  and Daisy (Sunshine)! Daisy is your quintessential Golden Retriever while Bryce is a Rottweiler. She’s brash, closed off and intimidating. But the whole “fuck around and find out” façade hides a deeply hurt woman whose parents are unable to accept her for who she is. 

The pining is intense and oh-so-good in this one! Daisy is perfect for Bryce as she SEES her and being with Daisy makes Bryce want to be her true self. All this has a little help of a fake dating situation (Bryce needs here meddling mom to stop setting her up with ‘perfect guys’) and some very tender and loving moments happen because of that scenario. 

The audiobook is narrated by the queen, Andi Ardnt, and a very very worthy Princess, Kristen DiMercurio. I want to give Kristen a million stars as she truly shines here too. Andi is her amazing self and Kristen gives all the nuances of Bryce’s personality. It was a joy to listen to!

And, yay, no third act break up nonsense!
