Bridger Blackwell has loved Dani Lexington since they were kids. Back then, he was her safe person, her haven. He was also a little older and her brother’s best friend, making her off limits. She was living through unspeakable hell in the hands of her father, so he understood her need to leave the first chance she got. He moved on, had a kid, got divorced, became the Fire Chief and he was content with his life. Until now.
Dani has loved Bridger all her life too. When he told her they couldn’t be together, she saw it as “of course he doesn’t want me, I am damaged” and all that. Now, she is back in Bitterroot Valley, living across the street from him and his little girl and all the feelings come back too the surface. But now Bridger is not off limits anymore and he seems dead set on showing Dani that she’s always been his. He has always been hers, Plus she fell in love with his little girl .
When things seem to be working for them, the ugly past decides to show up. All that while an arsonist seems determined to burn the city to the ground.
Oh my heart! I was fascinated by the Lexingtons when we met them and I was hoping to get their stories and Kristen didn’t disappoint.
The audiobook is wonderfully narrated in dual style by Erin Mallon and Sean Masters and what wonderful performances! Erin brings the vulnerability and the building strength of a woman who has been deeply dirty but kept her soul beautiful. Sean’s deep tone and touching performance give us a loyal friend, a loving father and a completely besotted man. Their combined performances make this an emotional and swoon worthy experience.
It’s so good to be back in Bitterroot Valley, being introduced to new people while catching up with beloved characters. There is a little bit of added suspense with the arsonist and with the return of the baby mama, and you also get the family gatherings, the cutest five year old and an HEA that will melt your heart!
Thank you, Kristen, for taking me back to Bitterroot Valley early!
