Sparrow Falls #4

ALC and ARC provided by author

Author: Catherine Cowles

Narrators: Samantha Brentmoor and Sebastian York

You know you’re in for a ride when the prologue of a book destroys you and the “meet cute” involves a knife to the throat!

Arden is my favorite kind of heroine – she may have been hurt but the “Fvck around and find out” is strong in this one! She’s not happy when she finds out her brother’s best friend (and boss) is staying at his house (she lives and has her studio in the property). To make matters worse, he makes her “feel things” and she has learned that feeling can lead to being hurt.

Linc is as broken as Arden. He’s a self-made billionaire out of sheer will of being free from his father’s reign of terror. He wants to avoid any relationship with his craptastic father who manipulates and subjugates everyone in his life. When he meets “Vicious”, he is a goner. That man is the definition of “he falls first”.

Their journey will be hard. Arden is extremely closed off with reason, but he is not afraid of stepping up and showing up when her trauma makes her want to run away.

As usual, I would be scared to live in any of the quaint small towns Catherine creates because – oh my word – scary stuff always happens in them! I must confess that my sleuthing abilities figured out who the villain was early on but I loved the red herrings and how the story developed! It is a slow burn (and it had to be) but oh so swoony.

The audiobook is narrated dual style by Sebastian York (perfect casting)  and Samantha Brentmoor. Samantha wows me every time but she managed to insert voice mannerisms of the previous narrators in the series and it’s amazing! Her Shep is spot on!  Narration gold!

Oh, and DO NOT miss the bonus epilogue!

Thank you, Catherine for the early copies. I had a blast!
