Blair’ never planned to be a “trophy wife” to a politician husband in San Francisco like her mother, but she was kind of content. She loved her husband, she had a great life… until it all went up in flames. She spends a few months holed up with her sister avoiding people’s looks of pity and the gossip. Then, on impulse, she buys a tiny house in Middle of Nowhere, Wyoming. When she gets there, she’s pretty much a city girl fish out of water but she is determined to fit in. 

Her neighbor, Griffin, apparently can’t stand her. He works on his ranch and also own the local bar and he is very averse to city girls. However, he just can’t stay away from this one. Too bad they all leave. Will this city girl stay?

I love a grumpy on the outside and sweet on the inside cowboy and Griffin delivers. The audiobook is narrated duet style by Savannah Peachwood and Teddy Hamilton. Savannah’s voice  was perfect for the determined Blair, who had her heart broken but is passionate about starting a new life.  Teddy is wonderful as a grumpy but vulnerable cowboy/bar owner who’s been hurt before. I loved how they portrayed these characters and took us on their slow burn, sweet but spicy, low angst journey to their HEA. 

A wonderful start to a new series with a strong heroine starting over, a cowboy who runs a bar and wears backwards baseball hats, a cute corgi, meddling small town people, fixing decks as love language, and finding home. 

I’m looking forward to spending more time in Bluestone Lake!
