Leighton U #3
Audible Audiobook
Author: C. E. Ricci
Narrators: Christian Fox and Blake Lockheart
We’re back at Leighton U and if you were hoping to see Kason get a story, you will be happy! He gets his HEA and it’s with… Hayes (Quinton’s nerdy bestie). Quinton is responsible for getting Hayes to accept to take Kason as a roommate. Neither one is very happy with that because, well, they have met before (a not-so-meet-cute that involved hot beverages) and they’re not exactly fond of each other.
This is not exactly an enemies-to-lovers situation because, well, Hayes doesn’t really like ANYONE, but it provides the banter and the expected “roommating” hiccups. I was chuckling quite a lot at their back and forth that made the whole story so very believable. They’re like The Odd Couple.
Hayes is demisexual and the representation is spot on. So, it was perfect that that had to actually develop a connection before the spice hits – and boy does it hit! We also have a ‘teacher/student’ here as our boy Kason is still a virgin.
This was a delightful story and it does have the freaking third act break-up (and it’s of the ‘martyrdom’ kind, one of my least favorites), but it made sense, mostly because the communication between these two is top notch.
Now, let’s talk narration. Oh my word! Dual style by Christian Fox and Blake Lockheart and they are PERFECT. I loved Christian’s ‘I hate everyone but you’ portrayal of Hayes. Blake is great as the inexperienced but definitely not insecure Kason. No notes!
If you’ve been following these boys since Iced Out, you will probably be as excited as me when you see all of them show up here. But if you have not, you can still jump right in. Can’t wait for Theo and his stepbrother!!!!
Content notes: mentions of child abandonment, child abuse, domestic abuse. Toxic relationships
