Reggie Johnson in elated to find a job at her favorite card game, Spellcraft, The Magicking. When she shows up for her interview, she finds out, to her utter dismay, that she’s actually being interviewed to be what she thinks is the position of a personal assistant to a cooky old lady. In reality, she’s being interviewed to be a real witch’s familiar. Even though she’s told that time and again, she thinks that everyone is just catering to the old lady’s illusions. Hey, there’s room and board, the pay is beyond excellent and she needs money badly to get out of the financial pickle her grifter parents keep putting her in. What does she have to lose? Well, for starters she has to deal with the witch’s nephew, Ben Magnus, who just wants her gone. He’s insufferable, arrogant, maddening… and have I mentioned that the broody man is oh so very hot too?

When Reggie finally realizes that she is indeed dealing with real magic, witches, and warlocks, a curse is put on her employee and she has to team up with Ben to save Dru’s life.

I just had so much fun with this book! It’s an enemies to lovers, grumpy-sunshine, witchy rom com that you just won’t be able to put down.

Reggie has a Monica Geller obsession for cleaning and organizing that’s funny and endearing, specially when you learn why she is like that. Ben is seen in the community as a dangerous, cutthroat warlock but deep down whatever heinous act he’s famous for was done out of kindness to the parents who neglected him. I wish he were more “vindicated” in the end and people learned that his intentions were very noble after all.

I loved the quirky secondary characters and they add a lot of fun to the story.

Fun fun fun!

Narration: Holly Linneman is new to men and I loved her! Andrew Eiden (aka someone else you definitely already know) is great as Ben, as usual.

Possible triggers (spoilersish): toxic relationship with parents; mentions of a suicide that haunts the MMC; MMC killed his parents
