London Calling #3

Thanks, @dreamscape_media for the audiobook.

I fell in love with Luc and Oliver with their fake dating shenanigans in Boyfriend Material, rooted for their non-wedding shenanigans in Husband Material and I couldn’t wait for more shenanigans with these two now facing… fatherhood?

Obviously, we KNOW things won’t go the traditional way with Luc and Oliver and while Luc is spiraling just with the idea of adopting a dog, Oliver (god bless him) in under the notion that fatherhood will be a walk in the park for him. After all, he ‘prepared’- he read 17 books, he researched. So, it’s highly adorable to see him cluelessly fumble while Luc sort of excels (I exaggerate here lol).

When they are starting to settle as dog parents with Spud, a new adventure begins: fostering a 14-year-old girl. I loved to see them being the Luc and Oliver we love, but seeing Luc becoming the more … “capable” parent was a joy. I loved Jas and how she shook their world and made them grow as individuals, as a couple and as parents.

We also have the parallel plot of the impending closing of CRAPP and all of the zany Zoom calls that come with all the insanity of that non-profit, the organizing of the fundraising CRAPPstonbury and the return of rockstar Odille!

I wish we could see more into their lives in the future now that we know, after the spectacular baptism of fire that was Jas, that ‘they’ve got this’.

The audiobook is narrated solo by Joe Jameson, as it’s solely in Luc’s POV. He does an absolutely amazing job as every single voice is unique. He captured Luc’s and Oliver’s very distinct personalities as well as every other character in the story. It’s a tour de force and he keeps us entertained from the moment we press play.

What you get: MM romance, queer joy, crazy best friends, unexpected bridge child deliveries (almost), an adorable rescue dog named Spud, a challenging foster daughter, a neighbor kid from hell, learning how to ‘dance according to the music’,  fundraising for the rescue of the dung beetle and all the warm and fuzzies!

Representation: queer romance,  MM

Content notes (including but not limited to): living in foster care, mentions of attempted suicide, emergency child delivery (successful)
