Boudreaux Family #1

Audible Audiobook

Author: Kristen Proby

Narrators: Rachel Fulginiti and Sebastian York

Set in the Big Easy, this is the first book in the Boudreaux Family, one that has built ships and boats in Louisiana for generations. When Eli Boudreaux, the handsome co-chair of the business is told someone is stealing from them and it’s an inside job, he’s not happy. Their sister brings in her best friend, Kate O’Shaughnessy, to investigate. They only thing his sister asks of him is to “stay away from Kate”. It would be an easy task, as Eli has no interest in getting involved with anyone, let alone his sister (and brother)’s best friend. Sadly, he wasn’t told that the tiny spitfire with the green stilettos would steal his heart.

I got this whole series in one of those infamous Audible sales because I wanted to try this author. The book is pretty much like the first episode in a TV series: lots of characters and arcs to introduce and it shows a bit, but it’s definitely a fun time.

Narration: I’m giving this one a pass because it was produced in 2015 and it’s a product of its time, I guess. Narrated by Sebastian York and Rachel Fulginiti, they both do a great job. However, while Rachel plays Eli with a heavy southern accent, SebYo doesn’t and it kept throwing me off.

I can’t wait to follow the other sibling’s stories!

Possible triggers: Mentions of a hard divorce, domestic abuse (historical) and infertility
