Delphie has just died. Literally. A death as unimpressive as the life she had been living – choking on a microwavable burger. When she gets to the Afterlife waiting room so to speak, she meets the hottest man she has ever seen and they feel a connection. But his arrival was a mistake and he gets sent back. Here she was thinking she had met her soulmate only for him to be taken away. However, she gets offered a deal by her romance novels loving “intake agent”: 10 days. Find the man and make him kiss her, voluntarily. If she manages that, she can stay alive. It’s London, a city of millions, and she finds herself in a “scavenger hunt” for Jonah and she’ll need to do something she has never done before – ask for help.

I was hooked by the premise of this book and by the fact that Delphie kinda gets the chance of a do over. It’s fun to see her finally interact with her neighbors (what a sweet and lovely relationship she has with the elderly gentleman in the building), specially with Cooper, who she thinks is the building’s Lothario.

Her search for Jonah is funny and we soon realize where it will eventually lead. However, it was a bit long and repetitive. I loved the little “twist” at the end, and though it was a little predictable, it was sweet.

Overall, it was a sweet and funny (not very spicy) story that manages to tackle some very deep subjects (estrangement from parents, death, grief, isolation).

The audiobook is narrated by Sofia Oxewnham and I believe it’s her debut. She does an amazing job! The book is single POV, first person, all told through Delphie’s POV.

All in all a fun experience.

Content notes: on page deaths, estrangement from parents, death of a sibling (historical), grief, a secondary character is nonverbal due to an injury, bullying (historical but described)
