Dreamers #2
ALC provided by Must Love Audio
Author: Adriana Herrera
Narrators: Victor Quixabas and Gomez Pugh, with Ramona Master
Thanks, @ladriana_herrera and @mustloveaudio for the ALC.
Camilo Santiago Briggs has learned that he can only rely on himself. The NYC social worker wants a happily-ever-after but real life has crushed his dreams one too many times. And then he has a scorching hook up with a gorgeous tuxedoed man in a fundraiser that changes his life.
Thomas Hughes is a self-made billionaire. The last thing he was expecting was to have the most exhilarating encounter of his life in a bathroom in a fundraiser with a hunky stranger. Too bad the stranger ends up being the man responsible for developing his new project with a nonprofit organization. Now the divorced single dad has a situation in his hands.
Camilo and Thomas have to navigate the tricky situation of Thomas being the major donor for the nonprofit. Camilo needs to learn to accept help and Thomas has to understand that sometimes lavishing people with nice things doesn’t solve all the problems.
The audiobook is narrated in duet and is perfectly cast. Victor Quixabas plays the adorable and a little bit of a drama queen Camilo, who’s a caring soul and a wonderful son. Gomez Pugh plays Thomas, the older Dominican self-made billionaire, who has already divorced one husband but is finally learning that work doesn’t have to be the center of one’s life and who became a stellar dad. Again, we get Ramona Master playing all female characters, including Tom’s adorable little girl, Libertad. Also, perfect Spanish all around.
What you get: a bubbly, adorable social worker, a billionaire full of good intentions but poor execution, amazing best friends, a spitfire of a little girl, learning to set up boundaries and to respect them, an unexpected road trip and a lovely HEA.
Representation: Latinx MCs, mental health rep (depression)
Content notes (including but not limited to): secondary character deals with depression. Mentions of loss of spouse, mentions of domestic abuse and living in shelters
