The Hollands #1

Avery Oliver is back at the gym after recovering from knee surgery.  The Olympic medalist has no time for distractions. She’s choked before and she can’t afford to do it again, so focus is the key. Knox Holland is in a pickle. He had a phenomenal rookie year in the professional motocross circuit but the high pressure of the sport and his situation at home led him to have a reputation as a hot head. His contract hasn’t been renewed and he’s desperate for a new shot at a new team. When his best friend offers him a spot in the free style show circuit, he takes it – just to find out that he’s lacking some skills in the acrobatics department. That’s when his friend suggests that he should train with Avery. She helped him work on core muscles he didn’t even know he had. It’s Knox’s last resort and he’ll try “handstands”and “cartwheels”. Neither one is happy to work with each other, but Knox is fascinated by the powerhouse pixie and Avery is very intrigued by the tattooed hot head. Falling for each other would be a detour on their goals… but sometimes detours take you to the most beautiful surprise destinations…

Narrated in duet by one of my favorite pairings, Erin Mallon and Teddy Hamilton, Burnout is a perfect 10! Erin is amazing as the driven, passionate Avery and Teddy is awesome as the cocky Knox, who we soon learn is incredibly loyal, responsible and selfless in his dedication to his siblings.

It was fun to go into two world I don’t visit often: high level gymnastics and motocross racing. I learned a lot, especially about the latter, but in a fun way. There is just the right amount of angst and conflict to make things interesting.

A wonderful audiobook with a protective hero, a go-getter heroine, loving brothers (biological or not), some interesting “maneuvers” done on a motorcycle (IYKYK), and a wonderful HEA. Great fun!

Thanks @mustloveaudio for making me this get to my ears early!
