The Summer Series #2

Author: Elizabeth O’Roarke

Caleb goes back to the lake to lick his wounds, to heal from unimaginable losses. He was counting on being left alone. He was NOT counting on Lucie as his neighbor. The last time he saw her she  was a little kid watching him and his friends from her aunt’s house. Now she’s there, recently separated, mom of twins, and tempting him with all the things he wants from life but doesn’t think he deserves.

Lucie was six when she first laid eyes on Caleb and she knew. He was hers and she’d be his salvation. But how does a girl who no one ever wanted, who’s a real life Rapunzel locked in the tower, going to accomplish that? And now, she’s a mom, a divorcee with the ex from hell, and  she ends up working for Caleb’s firm. But nothing changed in her heart: he may be isolated and grumpy, but now she might have to do exactly that: save him.

When I was offered the chance to read this in advance I jumped at the opportunity! I love the way Elizabeth creates characters you are so invested in! I wanted all the good things to happen to Lucie and Caleb.

You get to learn, little by little, everything that’s happened to make them finally meet again at the lake. They have a lot of trauma to unpack as their past has more baggage than a loaded 747, but they power through it. Are there bumps on the road? Major turbulence? Yes, but they reach their HEA along with the set of adorable twins.
LOVED IT! (Now I can’t wait for this in audio!)

PT: messy divorce, gaslighting, mentions of drug use/rehab, cheating (not MCs), child abandonment
