We are back in the land of wolf shifters and vampyres we first visit in Bride. 

Serena Paris is Misery’s best friend whose disappearance basically kickstarted the events in Bride. Now, we all know she’s a were/human hybrid. Learning of her existence was supposed to make everyone see there could be harmony amongst the species. Yeah, that ain’t happening and she’s prey to power hungry creatures. Besides all that, she’s been going through some physical changes that are signaling a big problem. The last thing she needs is Koen Alexander. 

Koen is the Alpha of the Northeast pack and he commands obedience and fear. Well, apparently not to everyone because Serena couldn’t care less. She has bigger fish to fry. Small problem though: she’s his mate and he’ll set the world on fire to protect her… even if he can’t have her. 

I loved Bride and I didn’t think Ali could top it and boy was I wrong. I adore Serena as a character: She’s loyal, sassy, smart and independent. Koen is the grumpy ‘I hate everyone but you’ Alpha who’s a lapdog when it comes to Serena. 

Yes, most of the romance is based on the ‘mate’ situation and it feels instalust-y (it IS) but Ali made it swoony. 

The audiobook is mostly narrated by Ellie Gossage with Teddy Hamilton doing all the male voices as all the chapters but the epilogue are in Serena’s POV. Ellie is new to me but she is phenomenal! Teddy is at the top of his game as the grumpy Koen and all the other male characters.

I hope Ali continues with her paranormal stories. This was definitely fun!
