Man in Charge #2.5 (1001 Dark Nights)

Audible audiobook

Author: Laurelin Paige

Narrator: Vanessa Edwin

Eden Waters works at the Sebastian Corporation as a receptionist/assistant, a job she got through her best friend, Brett Sebastian. She met him when she was the maid of honor and he was the best man in her sister’s wedding. They bonded over their duties and became inseparable. She always felt he had a thing for her but she had her eyes set on her boss, Scott Sebastian, Brett’s cousin.

When Brett meets a woman at a party and tells Eden he’s interested in this girl, something clicks and she no longer sees him as her “buddy”. Well, she’s always fought an attraction so as to not muddle things between them. Now, all she can think of is HELL, NO. BRETT IS MINE. But Brett has been witness to her pursue of his cousin and there is one thing he won’t accept – to be her second choice. He’s done being a “lesser Sebastian”, especially when it comes to Eden.

Picking up exactly at the first events in Man in Charge, this still can definitely be read as a standalone. It will be, though, a special treat for those who read the duet.

It’s great to see Eden’s POV in this novella and we get to understand her side of the story in her involvement with Scott while we follow her journey in figuring out that she’s always loved Brett.

A sweet (and spicy!! Brett is a dirty boy! Who knew?!) friends to lovers novella.

Narration: Narrated beautifully by Vanessa Edwin, who can do scary good male voices!
