I am always happy to start a new series from Laura Pavlov! This one is tied to Magnolia Falls, as Easton is Emerson’s twin brother, so we get to catch up a bit, which I absolutely love!
Easton is 100% dedicated to his job at the law firm where he is known as The Shark. When his boss tasks him with mentoring his daughter, he’s not happy. He’ll show this “princess’ what it is to work under him.
Henley knows things won’t be easy for her because she knows people will have a preconceived notion of her as some “nepo baby” and nothing could be further from the truth- she graduated top of her class at Harvard, has an incredible work ethic and doesn’t want any privileges.
Soon Easton realizes that Henley is a completely different princess – she will be the ruler of all his thoughts. Working together side by side might be a problem when you you’re attracted to the the boss’s daughter who is your mentee. Worse? She’s absolutely on board with having feelings for her mentor…
Both have emotional baggage and past traumas that make their relationship a struggle, but both are definitely willing to to do the work. I love how Easton is pretty open about therapy!
The audiobook is wonderful. Narrated by two of my favorites, Andi Arndt and Connor Crais, in duet style. I just pressed play and kept listening till the end. Andi shows us a determined but vulnerable Henley while Connor gives us a grumpy turned into swoony Easton.
This is a great kickstart for the series! I can’t wait for Lulu and Rafe!
Thanks, Laura for the gifted audiobook!
Content notes: grief, loss of a loved one in a car accident, child abandonment, past trauma, misogyny at the workplace (client not boss)
