Sarah and Caleb  Linwood have been together since high school. They’ve been each other’s rocks for seventeen years, especially through Sarah’s grief over losing her mother at the age of 19. Caleb has become very successful in his career but Sarah has never fulfilled her dream of becoming a writer. Now, over 30, she’s feeling at a loss. She feels she needs. to prove to herself that she’s more than someone’s wife, daughter or aunt. So, when the fundraiser she organized to help raise money for ALS fails to achieve the intended target goal and Caleb steps in to save the day, things start to go sour. So, they decide to join a couples retreat in the woods (no glamping here!) where these two city creatures will truly face each other again , reconnect  while facing some hard truths. A comedy of errors follows during this grueling hiking trip where they will bare their souls and find a way to each other.

Marriage in crisis stories have to convince you that the couple truly deserves to be together and, boy, these two truly belong together. Forced to grow up really fast, they became a couple before they even had the chance to become full-fledged adults. It’s impossible not to feel for Sarah and there are no villains here, so we root for them to get happy together from page 1.

If you have been reading Hannah’s books, you will catch up  with Win, Bo and Baby August. The epilogue made me both tear up and cheer.
